Ways to work together

From the me to the we.

Here’s the thing. There’s a conversation you keep starting in the car and setting down before the driveway. What would it take for it to finally get said, and what would you each need to stay in the room while it lands? Every path here leads to the same place: the three of us, live, in real time. We find the shape that fits your season in a conversation.

Let’s speak

A short call with me, to find the shape that fits you.

Bring it messy. We’ve all been the doofus in the room.

If the number is the thing standing between us, say so. All these systems charge you extra for needing time. I’m not doing that. Tell me what you need and we’ll arrange it direct.

In their words

What it’s like in the room.

“Lindsay was recommended to me to facilitate a sacred journey with my husband. After, my husband and I continued to work with Lindsay via couples’ counseling. Lindsay helped us explore our relational dynamics and we began a process of honest conversation and truth-telling that has continued (and grown) to this day. We are now 21 years into our marriage and happier than ever.”

“As a therapist myself, I am very picky about who I refer to, and I always feel good about referring clients and couples to her for her deep and powerful presence and the container that she holds with and for others. She is honest, passionate, and fearless when it comes to being a stand for the people in her life.”

“She listens in a way that makes you feel genuinely met, not managed or fixed, and her wisdom has been earned in the terrain of real life, real grief, real transformation. If you are standing at a threshold and need someone who can walk with you into the unknown without flinching, Lindsay James is that guide.”

“I’ve worked with Lindsay for over 9 months. From the first day of our container I felt welcomed and held, all parts of me. Because the work wasn’t geared towards fixing. It has been towards welcoming and remembering. I know having Lindsay as my partner and witness in this chapter has been worth the investment without question.”

“She has an incredible ability to see what’s happening beneath the surface, offer honest perspective, and somehow help you find your own answers without ever telling you what to do. I recommend Lindsay wholeheartedly to anyone looking for a guide, mentor, or someone who can truly hold space for deep, meaningful work.”

The Devotional Alchemy of Union

Love is not a destination. It's a living, breathing, ever-evolving devotional act… with twists and turns, seasons and cycles, deaths and rebirths, the sacred and the silly, the holy and the profane. The sometimes awkward and awful.

When it comes to relationship, most of us were never truly taught how to love well, ourselves included. We learned to survive, to perform, to protect, to fawn, but not always how to communicate well, repair after rupture, or stay open through change.

We inherited patterns and stories, but rarely the tools for sincere intimacy, bold honesty, and expansive union.

Few of us were initiated into the art of ending well — of bringing grace and respect to closure when love changes form.

So much of what we carry in relationship isn't personal, it's ancestral, cultural, or the residue of old wounding replaying in present time.

By tending some of that work independently, you free one another from the impossible task of trying to heal what predates the relationship. From that fresh vantage point, you begin to see yourself, your patterns, and your partner with new eyes. And from there, you can build something truly shared.

The way I hold this work

In service to love & life itself.

As a trauma-informed somatic practitioner, I am trained and devoted to helping you reach the places words can't, into the muscle memory where old stories still live, so that what's stagnant can finally move and life-force and vitality can flow.

I walk with couples who are ready to bring consciousness, clarity, courage, humility, responsibility, action, reverence, and playfulness into their relationship.

I am here for those willing to boldly meet both the beauty and the grit of the bond they share. Who are here to lead and be led in love.

These paths are for the seasoned relationship or the one just beginning to root and bloom.

Ceremony

Some moments in a relationship ask for more than conversation. A vow needs to be renewed. A rupture needs to be witnessed. A season needs to be grieved, released, or consciously begun. Something true is asking to be embodied and marked.

Ceremony creates a deeply intentional space where you can honor what is needed.

Each ceremony is shaped around the living truth of your relationship and the threshold before you. It may hold grief, forgiveness, recommitment, repair, desire, transition, or the return of something that has gone quiet between you.

It is a deliberate act of meaning-making, a way of bringing your bodies, your choices, and your devotion into the same room, so what has been carried can be met in the present and honor together what is necessary so the next chapter can truly begin.

Ceremony may stand alone or follow a series of sessions.

The foundation of this work

What are relationship rituals?

Relationship rituals are small, repeatable acts of devotion you return to on purpose. The way you greet each other at the door. A real question before sleep. A weekly check-in where the truth gets to land. They keep love tended between the big moments, so your connection stays clear, honest, and alive.

Relationships thrive when tended consistently. It's always easier to grow from a place of health and curiosity than to repair from crisis or contraction. Think of this as preventative medicine for your partnership — nourishment that keeps love resilient, honest, and alive.

Questions

What if my partner is resistant?

Resistance does not necessarily mean the work cannot begin. Often, it means there is something important beneath the hesitation: fear of being blamed, uncertainty about what will be asked of them, old experiences of not feeling heard, or something personal that does not belong entirely to the relationship.

This is one reason I create space for each partner to have their own individual exploration session each month. Sometimes the relationship is simply the ground where deeper patterns rise to be seen and worked with. Resistance can reveal where the heart of the work lives, and when it is met with curiosity rather than pressure, it can become a meaningful place to begin.

We are not doing well and considering ending our union. Can you still help?

Yes. This can be a powerful threshold for coming into the heart of what is happening and exploring the truest path forward.

Our work is not built around keeping a relationship together at any cost. It is about creating enough honesty, steadiness, and care to understand what is asking to be repaired, transformed, or completed. If continuing as partners is no longer the most truthful path, we can explore what it means to bring the relationship to completion with respect, dignity, and care.

Not all endings have to become ugly. Sometimes the deepest act of love is learning how to tell the truth, honor what has been shared, and choose what comes next while caring for one another along the way. It is surprising how much grace can fill a space when the release valve has been hit on resentments and things withheld that causes pain between two people. There is a lot of space for healing and evolution in this territory when it is met intentionally.

We have never done couples work before, and our relationship is mostly positive. How could this help us?

Couples work is not only for relationships in crisis. Legendary love is built through skill, attention, honesty, and continuous nurturing.

It is far easier to strengthen a healthy foundation than to wait until years of disconnection, resentment, or unspoken hurt have accumulated. This work can help you understand one another more deeply, communicate with greater clarity, tend desire and intimacy, navigate change, and develop practices for repair before conflict becomes rupture.

You do not have to wait until something is broken to become more intentional about what you are building together.

My ethos & commitment

I delight in taking couples to the heart of the matter.

I serve love and the truth that sustains it. Sometimes that means rekindling devotion; sometimes it means naming when the path is complete. I walk beside you in the beauty and the breaking, celebrating what's alive and naming what's ready to be released.

My loyalty is to life, to love, and to the wholeness of you and your union — whatever form that ultimately takes.
