becoming, in Lindsay's hand

Something in your life, love, or service is ready to evolve.

A relationship
  • A relationship
  • A grief
  • A threshold
  • A vision
  • A body of work

Welcome, I am glad you found your way here…

You may know exactly why you are here. You may simply feel the pull.

Either way, you are looking for a container, a guide, and a sacred witness to walk beside you as you meet what is asking to be met.

This is a refinement space. A living temple for the soul. A place to bring your life, love, leadership, and service into deeper coherence.

A place to tell the truth without storylines.

To reorganize what is no longer thriving.

To listen for what is quietly calling.

To honor what is ending, tend what is aching, and make room for what is becoming.

this work is for THRESHOLD moments…

This is where life is tended.

This is where grief is given a place to move.

Where death and transition are held as sacred passages.

Where the body is invited back into the conversation.

Where relationships are tended with honesty and devotion.

Where visions are given structure, rhythm, and roots.

Where old patterns are interrupted.

Where the next chapter gets a stronger spine.

who I serve

I work with individuals, couples, practitioners, families, and communities at the thresholds of life, love, loss, leadership, ceremony, and service.

This may look like grief, transition, relationship repair, recommitment, practitioner refinement, ceremony preparation or integration, sacred leadership, or the birthing of a vision, body of work, retreat, training, or creative offering.

I am a modern-day medicine woman and midwife to the thresholds.

This work is for those ready for support that can hold depth and direction, mystery and mayhem, soul and strategy, all in the same hands.

This work is relational

This work is Earth and Sky, Fire and Water, learning to meet the medicine of the moment.

my approach

My way is poetic and practical, fiercely loving, wildly honest, relational, and rooted in the wisdom of the body and the voice of the soul.

For over two decades, I have walked with people through the tender, tangled, holy terrain of being fully alive: love, grief, death, ceremony, leadership, service, and the thresholds that shape us.

This is where the sacred meets the practical, where mystery meets self-mastery, where service becomes the compass, and body gnosis is restored as guide and anchor.

Deeper Curiosities

What this work is

What does Lindsay James do?

Lindsay James is a ceremonialist, death doula, mentor, couples practitioner, and facilitator based in Central Oregon.

For more than two decades, she has walked alongside individuals, couples, families, practitioners, and communities through the tender, tangled, and holy terrain of being fully alive– love, grief, death, relationship, leadership, ceremony, service, and the thresholds that shape us.

Her work includes private mentorship, couples work, grief tending, end-of-life support, rites of passage, breath and sound journeys, practitioner training, and custom ceremonies for the moments that ask to be marked, honored, released, or brought into form.

Her way is poetic and practical, fiercely loving, wildly honest, and rooted in the wisdom of the body and the voice of the soul. She holds depth and direction, mystery and mayhem, soul and strategy, all in the same hands.

What makes this different from a more traditional therapeutic approach?

Traditional therapy often helps us understand the story. My work asks how that understanding wants to live in the body, the relationship, the ritual, the decision, and the next honest step. Then encourages the action.

We may sit and talk, but we may also breathe, move, grieve, create ceremony, practice a difficult conversation, tend a threshold, or give form to something that has lived too long as an idea.

This work is less about fixing and more about restoring right-relationship: with yourself, your history, the present moment, one another, grief, service, the body, and the sacred. We name and interrupt the patterns that keep that relationship out of reach.

It is poetic and practical, deeply human, and willing to leave the armchair when the moment calls for fire, silence, ritual, or a little dirt under the fingernails.

This work can complement therapy, but it does not replace clinical mental health care when that level of support is needed.

What is a death doula?

A death doula is a non-medical companion who walks with a dying person and their family through the end of life, with presence, song, and ceremony. As a death doula in Bend and Central Oregon, I help the dying and their families prepare for what is coming, hold vigil, tend the room, and shape the rituals that honor a life as it closes. I work alongside hospice and medical teams, holding the human and sacred layer they don't have time for, the conversations, the legacy work, the grief that arrives early. Death is a threshold, and it deserves a witness. I am on the floor with you, steady, for as long as the passage takes.

I am a Practitioner too. How does your work support my service in the world?

Holding sacred space for others is a profound privilege, and an equally profound responsibility. I like to call our work together the refinement council.

My mentorships, practitioner trainings, and the Roots & Rites teachings are for guides, facilitators, doctors, healers, therapists, doulas, ceremonialists, and leaders who are ready to refine not only what they do, but who they are while doing it. Together, we strengthen the roots beneath your work: ethics, discernment, consent, scope, nervous system capacity, relational responsibility, shadow awareness, and the inner authority to know when to lead, when to listen, when to intervene, and when to get out of the way.

We tend the places where gifts can become tangled with ego, urgency, projection, power, performance, or the desire to be needed. Not to diminish your medicine, but to make it cleaner, steadier, and more trustworthy. This is where intuition is given strong bones. Where skill meets humility. Where your lived practice becomes the ground from which you serve. Holding space is not about appearing wise or having all the answers. It is about becoming a deeply rooted, ethically awake, fully accountable human who can remain present with what's real in the room, beyond your own lens and ways of relating to the world.
