Communion

A live couples communication course.

Across four live evenings, couples gather to strengthen the language of their love– and hone the art of speaking with courage, listening with devotion, moving through sticky points with greater skill, and creating clearer pathways back to one another. This is where communication becomes communion.

The Art of Loving Well

What is Communion?

Communion is a live communication experience for couples ready to become more skillful, honest, and devoted in the way they meet one another.

Communion is not about learning to say everything perfectly. It is about becoming more conscious of what happens when the conversation matters. When an old pattern takes the wheel. When the person you love says something difficult. When you want to ask for more but fear the answer. When the truth feels ultra edgy. When one of you reaches and the other retreats. When language becomes a dagger, a hiding place, a bridge, a blessing, or a way home.

This course invites you to slow the moment down enough to see what is actually happening. To separate the event from the story. To listen for the need beneath the noise. To become more honest without becoming disconnected, and loving well without abandoning yourself.

You do not need to be endlessly regulated, perfectly articulate, or free of relational baggage. Life be life’n, ya know?! We all enter love through different origin stories, bodies, permissions, protections, habits, and histories. Here we are learning how to human together, alongside one another. The work belongs to each of us. And what we practice here ripples into every relationship we touch.

The word communion belongs to a family– communication, common, union, commune. To commune is to bring something into the space between us. To share what is true, receive what is offered, and allow the encounter to change us. This is communication in its deepest form– not simply exchanging words, but creating understanding, meaning, and relationship together.

A taste of the work · Word as Wand

Words are spells. Watch them shapeshift.

So much of what we say quietly gives our power away. In Communion you learn the craft that is spoken word– language spoken from choice, with intentional authorship in your own hands that facilitate the experiences you are most desiring.

  1. “I have to.”“I’m choosing to.”
  2. “You make me feel…”“When that happened, I felt…”
  3. “It’s fine.”“Here’s what I actually want.”
  4. “You never listen.”“I don’t feel heard right now.”
  5. “I had no choice.”“I chose this. Here’s why.”

This is one practice, in one session. There are four sessions, and much to practice together.

Session I

The Mirror & the Moment

We begin before technique, at the question of who is speaking when you speak. You meet the communication blueprint you were handed, the patterns, the roles, the old strategies that run the room. You learn to tell apart what happened, what you felt, and the story you reached for.

  • Name your patterns under pressure
  • Inquiry before assumption
  • An embodied check-in before going deeper

A couple laughing together in a sunlit, earthy kitchen with wood and clay details, mid-conversation

Session II

Word as Wand

Language is alchemy. We walk the roots of the words, communication, communion, spelling, and you feel how speech casts. You practice empowered language, speech that returns you to choice and keeps your authorship in your own hands. For word nerds like me, you’ll love this as we too explore the etymology of many words assuring we are choosing wisely and with precision.

  • Empowered language, from your own mouth
  • The language audit
  • Speaking with precision and care

Session III

From Conflict to Clarity

Here, insight becomes action. You learn the anatomy of a clean conversation– the clear ask, the boundary that protects connection, and the repair that names impact and changes what comes next. Together, we transform your relationship to conflict itself. What if conflict is not the failure point, but the sweet spot where truth, growth, and liberation become possible? You will leave better equipped to meet it with clarity, courage, and skill.

  • The clear ask, needs met in real time
  • Boundaries that keep connection
  • Clean repair, impact owned and tended

Session IV

Speaking with Intention, Listening as Devotion

Here, we integrate it all and turn toward receiving. To speak with intention is to stand behind your words. To listen as devotion is to make room for your partner’s truth without rushing to defend, fix, or turn away. You practice staying present when something real is spoken, even when common ground has not yet been found.

  • Listen for understanding
  • Receive without losing yourself or them
  • Speak words you intend

The heart of the matter

Tell the truth without losing each other. Build a love that can hold honesty, difference, rupture, and return.

The Threads of this Work

Say the thing that has been living within you and between you.

Ask clearly for what you want, and make room for an honest answer.

Meet conflict as a doorway, and learn how to move through it together.

Listen without defending, fixing, or disappearing.

Hold your boundaries as devotion.

Reclaim language as an act of creation.

The work belongs to each of you. As you learn to carry the art of loving well in your own hands, it ripples beyond the relationship and into how you meet your children, your work, your community, and your own heart.

Questions people ask

Have a few lingering curiosities?

Is Communion a couples communication course?

Yes. Communion is a live couples communication course, four sessions across two weeks, October 5, 6, 19, and 20, at 5:00 PM. You come as a couple and attend all four sessions together. We work at the heart of how you speak, listen, and repair: telling the truth with care, making a clear ask, moving through conflict into clarity, receiving each other as devotion. The practice reaches everywhere you communicate, with your children, your work, your own heart, so what you build across these four sessions travels far past your relationship and into the whole of your life.

What if I am in but my partner does not wish to participate?

You are still warmly welcome.

While I strongly encourage your partner to join you, one person changing the way they speak, listen, and meet conflict can shift the whole relational field. You will be able to participate in the teachings and guided exercises, work through the workbook, and bring what you learn back into your partnership.

You will not have the same opportunity to practice privately with your partner during our live couple exercises, but you can still work with the material through reflection, partnered practice within the group, and real-life application at home. The workbook is yours to keep. And who knows? Sometimes one person going first is exactly what opens the door.

Is it live, or recorded?

Communion is fully live and will not be recorded. All four sessions are taught with me in real time on Zoom on October 5, 6, 19, and 20 at 5:00 PM. Each gathering is two hours.

The live room is where the real work happens. I can hear the moment an old pattern takes the wheel, where a request turns into a demand, or where a sentence is trying to become braver. Together, we find the truer words right there, with your partner beside you, and you practice while the moment is alive. Because this work asks for honesty, vulnerability, and real participation, confidentiality matters. What is shared in the room stays in the room. Everyone will be asked to honor the privacy of the couples gathered and not repeat, share, or record another participant’s story. Nothing is captured. Nothing is repackaged. You get to be fully present, knowing the room is held for the people inside it. That is the medicine of a live room, and the heart of why Communion gathers in real time.

What if we can’t make all four sessions?

Life happens. While I encourage you both to attend as many sessions as possible, missing one does not mean you lose the thread of the course. And if only one of you can make it, please still come. One partner staying connected to the work is far more valuable than both of you not joining us.

You will be missed in the live gathering, but much of the teaching, reflection, and practice will live inside the companion guidebook that is yours to keep. You can return to the material together, move through the exercises in your own time, and bring what you discover into the sessions that follow. The live experience is where the work comes fully alive, but the golden nuggets will still be waiting for you in your take-home companion I have crafted to support your journey through.

What does a couples communication course teach?

Communion teaches the heart of communication across four sessions. You uncover the communication blueprint you each carry. You learn empowered language, the words that return you to choice. You learn the anatomy of a clean conversation: the clear ask, the boundary that keeps connection, the repair that names impact and changes what comes next. And you learn to receive, to stay present while your partner’s truth arrives. You leave each session with one plain practice to carry home, simple enough to use that same evening, and deep enough to keep tending for years.

What does it cost, and what’s included?

The price is $397 for the two of you, one price for the couple, all four sessions included. That is four live two-hour sessions with me on Zoom, the full four-part arc, The Mirror & the Moment, Word as Wand, From Conflict to Clarity, and Speaking with Intention, Listening as Devotion, and the Communion workbook to write in as we go and keep after. The room stays intimate enough for real depth and communion to occur.
